Partner Dancing

As we prepare to enter the year 2018, many dancers are aware of the changing styles in partner dancing on Oahu. We now have three broadly defined styles of dance. The American, the International and the Social. Our partner dancing has been enjoyed socially, theatrically and competitively around the world. The three styles, while differing in technique, rhythm and dress wear, exemplify core elements of ballroom dancing such as control and cohesiveness.Though in social dancing the preference is not in the dance patterns but in the "Music." This is very evident with the emerging interest in the Oldies but Goodies kind of dance music in this century.

“For social dancers, every dance they make belongs to them. If it was not good,
they can discard it. If it was good, they can keep it as part of their collection.”

In the United States the three variations are popular and the most theatrical has been the American because it has not been so strict as the International. And the International with its competitions is ideal for strictness because they must be judged. The Social dances evolved from the Street dances that had fewer patterns but many more basic moves to music. And there has been much fusion of the American Style into the Social dance scene and for Social Dancers, to top it all - the Big Ballroom Era is over.

Maui Tacos on Oahu? Must be a typo.
I usually do copy and post if it is not emailed to me. But I saw the notification in Twitter from them and I took the chance. If any one objects because it is copyrighted I will deleted it immediately if not sooner.
