Evolution

This blog is still number one in average hits per day, so I can hope to get the first Guest Blogger aboard soon. With one steady Guest Blogger, others will see the results and I can get more people and together we can plan my resignation and their takeover of the blog completely. But I am 92 years old and I am running out of time. The only requirements are that you must be willing to share your bits of dance pearls in the blog with the reader/dancers. I am willing to coach.

“Social dancers may believe that life is music to
which they choreograph their own dance.”

I am limited physically and by other means to get more dance information to share with the readers. However Dance Fever Oahu is probably the best Web site with dance information in the State of Hawaii. Then there are Franks blogs and I learned my blogging from Frank. He has two beautiful blogs which he alternates after his fashion and he has some of the best photos of dance exhibitions on this Island. You can get a good view of the dance scene on Oahu with these two.

Town Dancer is principally in town and town has a million possibilities and we have over 30 thousand partner dancers on Oahu. From there we have the probability of ten thousand dancers with some interest in the dance scene. And fortunately opinions are like noses, everyone has one and they are all different. We can learn to respect everyone's honest opinions. Happy Dancing.

falsehood, as oil does above water." ~Miguel de Cervantes

The Plateau

Every blog is slowing down including some of the outsiders. Patience, With 30 thousand potential reader/dancers on this Island I may be able to do it. I try to be understanding. I do my thing and you do yours. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, and you are not in this world to live up to mine. You are you and I am I, and if by chance we find each other as good dancing friends in this nice dance world, then it is good. If not, it can’t be helped and we don't have to talk stink about anyone.

 From the Rubaiyat
Come, fill the Cup, and in the fire of spring
Your Winter garment of repentance fling,
The Bird of Time has but a little way
To flutter -- and the Bird is on the Wing

Whether at Naishapur or Babylon
Whether the cup with sweet or bitter run
The Wine of Life keeps oozing drop by drop
The Leaves of Life keep falling one by one.

In addition, I can hope for the information and photo contributors that can make the difference to a dead blog and turn it into a smash hit. If anyone knows of a dance place that does not have a Web site, steer them this way. It may make a big difference and it is all for free. Many do not know the difference in "instead of" or "redundant" and "in addition to," in applying only simple communication to our reader/dancers. And we have over 30 thousand dancers on Oahu.

Social Dancers believe in an old saying.
"I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to dance better than myself."

Night Clubbing on Maui

Most visitors from the Mainland and from the neighbor islands to Maui are looking to escape the busy nature and stress of their everyday life environment. However, many still appreciate planned busyness and enjoy regular visits to the local Night Clubs. If you are a night owl traveling to the Valley Isle, fear not. You don’t have to take a break from tearing up the dance floor or indulging in your daily nightcap.

“Most social dancers know that there is no likelihood that they could ever
make a living from dance. They are doing it because they love it.”

Though smaller than Honolulu's nightlife scene, that on Maui is fairly impressive, given the small population of the Island. With a wide variety of places to choose from – from an authentic Irish pub with live Irish music nightly to a rowdy local water hole where locals go to watch the game, to a swanky, upscale martini lounge, you are sure to find your niche. You might even build up the courage to try someplace outside your comfort zone. And meanwhile we may get some dance news to post in this blog.

"Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor

You are on vacation after all. If not now, when? The nighttime crowds, including a large percentage of locals, are interested in far more than simply visiting tiki-style huts and sipping mai tais on a beach (thought these are also great options). This is Hawaii and there are plenty of places that offer a beautiful view of the Pacific, so you don’t even have to get your toes sandy unless you want to. No matter where you choose, you will end each night happily. And perhaps you can share a little of that happiness with our reader/dancers.

a minimum of anecdotes and a maximum of sensations."

Progress

Social Dancing

Now is the time to live out your passion - Transform the moment into an event
Get into Dancing for fun - Explore what is known only to a lucky few.

Share the body movement with your partner to music, and be passionate about it
Exercise your body, dance a fast Swing like there is no tomorrow.

Build something of real value for your entire life and increase your own energy
Then pause to enjoy the flavors, the colors and the textures of the Cultural Dance Scene.
And be nice to the world around you.

We are still a work in process and we are actively looking for dancing in Kapolei, the Waianae Coast and the North Shore. Anyone that can use some blogging And all of our blogs invite everyone to share dance information. Even if you do not live in West Oahu as long as you know what the subjects are. This is meant to be social media, so whatever you put in here will be read by others and that is the idea. If we get no hits we are just beating our gums. Hopefully the readership will increase and I must continue to try, I will not give up so easily.

"Flashdance... What a Feeling" by Irene Cara

My personal blog, Social Dance Oahu is still advancing but only by inches, not the usual feet as has been in the past. But that is all right with me as long as it increases daily. We are at the point of diminishing returns. The only other one in danger at the moment is Latin Rhythms. Too many people are not sure of blogs and think that I may be selling something and they don't want to buy. I must let it simmer a while longer and they may gradually realize that we are not a Web site that costs money. These blogs are for free. Patience.

"Life may be just a succession of lessons which must be lived
to be understood and we are doing that now."

GettingThere

I cannot get around very easily any more but I try to get dance information to share with the readers. Of course much of the information is known already by the aficionados. So my contribution may just add to what they have already. And the Palladium is still the center of Ballroom Dancing in Hawaii. Most of the dancing there is very well covered and they do not need any assistance from this blog. No hu hu, just understanding. These places for dance information are Dance Fever Oahu and Frank's two blogs which do an excellent job for the entire dance community.

"Social dancers know that when a dance becomes universal it is real and honest. It
transcends every difference that we have and reminds us we are one human family."

Meanwhile there is an awful lot of dancing outside of the Palladium. I don't hear of dancing in Malls and Gas Stations anymore but that is OK. Many of the social clubs have classes in school cafeterias as they always have. There are also some in Community Centers and District Parks. Nothing wrong with that. Friends, social interaction, music and learning dance steps make a very interesting evening. And of course there are the dance studios.

Then in Honolulu, you can dance socially any night of the week somewhere. Most places do their best business on Thursday through Sunday. and the rest of the days are special. Then you have your specialty dances which may or may not be in a night club. Of the specialties, Bachata and Salsa are the biggest groups in Night Clubs and the others are Country Dancing in Waikiki and other specialties such as Line Dancing and Argentine Tango. And all them could have something here to enhance their business.
