WBDC Anniversary

This was one of the first Dance Clubs on this island to set the pace for the others to follow. Things slowed down many years ago when the new dance clubs were being established in town. But this one has been holding just fine and is bound to get better and there is new interest to dancing in the West. Unfortunately, the Dance Pavilion scheduled to be built at the Patsy Mink Recreation Park has been cancelled to pay for the Rail Disaster.

This have excellent teachers in the American Style of Dance and some of the best social dancers on this Island. Their music ranks up at the top in classes and their socials. They have good workers such as Carol Kohagura and Maile Yagi. You want answers? What else do you need?

There have been two groups in town that have consistently produced the best International Style dancers on this island. By the same token there have been two groups that have consistently produce the worst International Style dancers on this Island. Who? Ha Ha! We are talking competition here are we not? That is the name of their game. Happy Dancing.

Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras which means Fat Tuesday, refers to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season, which begins on Ash Wednesday, this year on March 5th. It is mainly a Catholic activity and not taken too seriously on Oahu.

But we always need an excuse to party and dance, and this is as good a time as any. There always has been a little in Waikiki but now it is going to be happening in the West. Why not? There are plenty of Catholics and the rest would be willing to join in on the fun of Dining and Dancing.

I am curious as to which one the clubs in the West
will have the first Mardi Gras Dance.

Much of the dance action is still moving in a Westerly direction in spite of the Rail Disaster that  has screwed everything up in that section. And the East is showing some signs of reawakening. Who knows? "So we lives and learns."

So many good people, I had to post Da Bodadem.

"Of the dancers, by the dancers and for the dancers" All the
dancers? Of course not, they do not all want to be
involved and we must respect.

Hey, Hey, Moving Nice

Those of you who wish to write a several-thousand-word opus about something should be able to see that our blogs cannot be the place to do it. If you just want to share a little information of your dance environment and some pictures of your friends enjoying themselves then our blogosphere is a good place to do it.

"To handle yourself, use your head;
to handle others use your heart."

Oahu West is firmly in third place with average hits per day, and right behind Blogging Hawaii. That one person that we have been waiting for will make the difference very clearly for either one of the blogs. And yes we do accept just about any dancer out there. No rules or regulations, you will be on your own but it will be under your name.

"That's Amore" by Dean Martin

Other dance blog users who like the same things are sure to see, in all our posts, their fellow dancers enjoying themselves in a dancing environment too. And with a few honest and individual opinions, (all of us are different,) it would be the max. That’s the social networking aspect to our blogs and we let you, with little effort, share anything with our fellow dancers.

The end goal for all my blogs would merely be a new beginning. It would be complete independence from the original blogger. All the guest authors would be in charge, evolving their own rules for their own blog and each one blogging their own honest opinion. It would supplant the clique inaccurate dictation that has failed so miserably in the past. The new bloggers will exist very nicely and spread the good influence around.

Central Valley

Sakura With Love Dance
February 7th.

And WBDC coming through like champs. Could there be another Central Valley blog? With these people willing to share their happiness with their fellow dancers, it would be easy.  And they could "contaminate" others. The reader/dancers are all for it and they are the ones that count, the ones that come first, we try to please them.

Let's have a drum roll.
"The stars of Central Valley are arriving."

So What's Doin'/

The blogs are finally losing some of the big time scam spam robot hits like the Vampire Bats. The Vampire Stats got the worst reputation in Blogger history. And Blogger programmers were completely lost on how to stop them. There were an awful lot of excuses but no remedies. All the search engines were full of questions but no one had the answers. Blogger Stats became completely useless.

"If we can teach dancers something for a day, it is fine, but if we can teach them to learn by creating curiosity, they will continue the learning process as long as they live."

And yet there were some counters out there that could omit the scam spam robots. I will give Blogger Stats another six months and perhaps I can get some correct stats by then. Perhaps they will understand the type of statistics the bloggers want and need. Scam, Spam Robots are not it. If they don't know to stop them then we must get a counter that does know. Simple?

"In My Life" by the Beatles

Meanwhile we are still finding it difficult to get dance information and photos to our reader/dancers. Too many in the position to help simply do not know the value of blogging. We have a good basis of regular hits per day. We post a photo of your local gang and a few comments. The result have been proven over and over again.

The hits go up so we get more reader/dancers. In getting more reader/dancers, the contributors of the the post benefit. The participants in the post benefit, the blog benefits. It is a win-win situation all around and it is still going to take some time for many to realize this. If the new club forming uses this blog we will all see good results.

Don't compare your progress to that of others. We all need
our own time to travel our own distance. Baryshnikov

I only have to dance better than myself."

Stansberry Associates in Baltimore is one of the leading Republican Atrack Dogs and is a member of the present crooks along with the Tea Party. makes charges against the Democrats and just confirms he is a liar. They may have connections to the Present Rail Party in Honolulu. Same lying methods. But now he is in trouble trying to cover up the nookie he has been getting on the side. His wife is going to be furious. The Tea Party will be no more next year. They have had it too. Nailed to the coffin by their own lies.

Fusion Dancing

The media talks fusion as if it is somebody's recent invention. It has been going on for years. Where do you think English Paso Doble comes from? It sure ain't da reel teeng. What about the American Style Bolero? Completely invented by American Professionals and not having much to do with da reel teeng. Even Salsa is a fusion of several dances and based on the old Rumba. The Mambo had also been based on the old Rumba too.

"Learning gives creativity.
Creativity leads to thinking.
Thinking provides knowledge and
knowledge is what gets you there."

What is Fusion Now?

Fusion dancing is combining dance styles to match whatever music is playing. Driven by the melodies and rhythms of the music and the collective experience of the dancers, Fusion blends a multitude of styles— particularly blues, tango, west coast swing, lindy, waltz, and hip-hop— to interpret a wide variety of music genres.

"Eight Miles High" by the Byrds

Each partner fully contributes to and influences the dance; both follows and leads actively inspire each other. The fusion exchange is about embracing our varied backgrounds to create something new. It is not to be defined as aesthetic. It is, simply put, imagination in motion.

Many of our American Style Dance instructors have been applying these new principles for years. They have had plenty of experience and had few disciplinary taboos and could go with their own gut opinions. It should be no surprise that we have some of the best teachers of the American Style of dance right here on this Island.

What is Fusion Music?

Yes, they are in process of changing that too. Fortunately we are very traditional in Hawaii, and most music will be the "appropriate" music for the dances we now dance. I want to dance Rumba to Rumba music. Where I "have to" dance Rumba, not where I "can" dance Rumba to it. And mostly because it is in one of my thousand favorites. Many DJs to not understand "Oldies but Goodies."

This place in Salt Lake would be perfect and not be too
far from Town and far enough from the Rail Calamity

Pub's Aside Note: These people don't know it yet but they are going to be a big influence in modifying the Universal style now danced on Oahu. The acceptance of West Coast Swing along with the simple and triple East Coast Swing, the Filipino Tango and the Rumba using Mambo steps. And of course the plainer Brazilian Samba with more of the basic chassé and with slow, medium, and fast type samba music.

Street Dancer.

Old very respected term that has gradually lost it's luster with the popularity of the dance studios and the professional dance teachers who of course, could teach you the "correct" way to dance. Many in this century consider "street dancer" a derogatory term if applied to them.

"Try to learn something about everything and
everything about something."

For beginners we advise that to dance, the music is first - then you dance. In many places the norm is the movements in the dance first, then the music. Actually most do pretty good anyway, humans are dancers. But everyone is advised to acquire any knowledge available to them in the dancing fields. And in our blogs it should be possible to find what would be of interest to our fellow dancers who would like to learn.

"Paint It Black" by the Rolling Stones

If you have the love for the music, the information should make it even possible for a determined couple to teach themselves to dance without a teacher in the old fashion Street Style.  It would also be possible for a group of interested people, without a teacher, to successfully form their own dance club, and teach themselves.

Some groups already use DVD lessons just get ideas for new material and they practice with each other. This can be real social dancing and can evolve into Public Social dancing instead of the Private kind we have cultivated for so long. Da Reel Teeng!

"Here In My Heart" by Al Martino

People know the alphabet before they try to become proficient keyboard typists. Practice, not learning, is what makes them typists. The information that is available would teach the alphabet of dancing; practice is needed to become proficient dancers. Do not worry if you seem to have no rhythm or coordination in the beginning; these will come with practice.

Do not worry about stepping on each other's feet; if you use the proper hold, this will not happen. Sometimes you will find it possible to dance several kinds of ballroom dancing to a single piece of music.

But the leader, can interpret the music in his own way. Most ladies become very good and can follow just about anything. Are they better dancers than men? Of course.
