Well into 2016

Live Music in West Oahu is there, but where? We are slowing making contact with the neighbor islands but on Oahu only with Rolando Sanchez and his Salsa Hawaii. We have had some communication on Twitter but nothing else yet. He is a busy man.

"Perhaps the thing to do, is to dance and prepare ourselves
to be a rainbow in somebody Else's cloud."

"Here's My Heart" by Willie K

The only other places we know of in the Central Valley is Dot's in Wahiawa and Just Tacos in Mililani but they are pretty busy too with advertising so we must wait. We just need a few items of interest for the dancers and perhaps a photo of the gang, now and then. Would please everyone all around. But we don't want to bother anyone. When they are ready we will help.

Kapolei has some places with Live Music and a little dancing but nothing solid in dancing has been established. The Present Rail Party has been a big stumbling block to Second City status. West Oahu never needed the Rail Disaster and we all know that the Fat Cats in Honolulu are making millions. And they are screwing up business something awful from Pearl City to Aiea and we suspect it is not going to be any easier after it is built, for the entire island.

"For The Good Times" by Kris Kristopherson

Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good - Life is too short to waste time hating anyone - We don’t have to win every argument. We can agree to disagree - It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it -  When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile - We make peace with our past so it won’t screw up our present - We cannot compare our lives to others. We have no idea what their journey is all about - Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks - Take a deep breath. It calms the mind - Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful - Whatever doesn’t kill us, really does make us stronger. Our good Year continues - Happy Dancing.

Our Dance

By John Cooper, Honokai Hale:

We are all pretty well aware of the classic social dances. Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Tango etc. We all know which ones are the most socially acceptable, the top ten more or less. And what has made them so? Of course, the dance must have lasting appeal but not many dancers are aware of the "basic" step.

"Truth will ultimately prevail where there are
pains taken to bring it to light."

Just Dreaming
For most the basic step has determined whether it is accepted by the "trendy young" as well as the experience social dancer. The basic step is to start the dance and to get the partners in sync. Then going into other steps and patterns and constantly moving from and returning to the basic. Once both partners know where home base is they never get lost and enjoy it to the last note.

"Contigo A La Distancia" by Christina Aguilera

The music of these classics has led to understanding how to count the dance. How many beats each count gets and being able to express in your movements the music played. This has always been one of the first and most important element to get. Good Mambo music will get you on the right beat easy.

Since the turn of the last century there have been over 100 good fad dances introduced to the social dancers. Many were just passing fancies and many had good basics but either the music or the hype was not there. The best fad dance we have ever had has been Salsa. Good basic, terrific music, plenty of hype and plenty of teaching organizations on the bandwagon.

"The World Is Waiting For The Sunrise" by Les Paul and Mary Ford.

Reggeaton came in briefly to take over the Salsa spot but quickly receded. Bachata  is doing very well and Zouk, Kizomba and Zumbia are still around. Not much there but there are more coming. Mambo making a big comeback in the Latin Countries with well defined music to back them up.

Private, Not Public?

The entire live music and dance scene on Oahu is hidden away from our reader/dancers on these blogs. Most of these artists are busy with their own Web sites and trying to advertise using the old fashion methods, newspapers, radio, TV, and even in magazines. Of course, they do work. Not many suspect that many blogs are not asking for money. Many blogs, including ours consider what they do as communication to the reader and not advertising. Therefore, no charge - I know, it is hard to believe in these days where "It's the bread, Fred."

“The most important kind of freedom is to be what we really are. We often
trade in our reality for a role, we trade in our sense for an act. We soon
realize that it is better just to be oneself."

We have made some connection with Huggo's on the Rocks The younger, wilder sibling of the famous seafood eatery next door. From the Big Island news, this spirited joint is a terrific place to wind down the day and usher in the evening.

I got the photo at right from the Internet without any identification except that it was at Huggo's. Perhaps someone there will email us. Mahalo.

The Kauai Rhythm Kings

We keep trying to make contact with Live Music and Dance anywhere in Hawaii. Tough going. Very little on the Kauai Rhythm Kings, and much of what we see is copyrighted so we skip it. We will make contact eventually and share the information with our fellow dancers in Hawaii, specially on Oahu.

"Malama Mau Hawaii" by Amy Hanaialii

Like all our other blogs, we need information contributors. Just small interesting dance items for our reader/dancers. What will be eventually known as Social Media. And we shall dance whenever and wherever we have the opportunity.

West Oahu

This blog is at the bottom but it is really fair. It does not do what the other blogs do covering one territory more or less for anyone interested. The West is looking better every day. Perhaps it just seems that way because I live in the West, Pearl City now but I was living very nicely in Nanakuli until my legs gave out and I was forced onto a walker.

"The closeness of your relationships is directly proportional to the degree to which you have revealed the truth about yourself. It can be painful."

Dream On Fellow Dancers
Makaha all the way down to Kapolei and up through the Central Valley, all the way up to the North Shore. That section gave rise to the Platinum Horseshoe blog and it has become one of our leading blogs. That section used to be "out in the sticks" for downtown people. The advent of Second City will continue in spite of the Present Rail Party. The Rail Disaster is making their millions in profits and that was all they wanted. Unfortunately so many of us will have to pay for it.

"Yesterday" by the Beatles

My stats tell that one more Guest Author for any blog will make it a potential independent and specialize in their type information for their readers. I can resign as administrator and phase myself outta theah. Upon independence they will redefine themselves and be on their merry way. I am certain that they will lead in internet dance communication on these islands for a long time to come.

"Imagine"by John Lennon

But good news in town, the hits are just going up slowly but steadily on the average per day basis. Mind boggling! Just two more Guest Author in any blog would rival Town Dancer and guarantee independence.

Q. How many dance instructors does it take to change a light bulb?
A. Five!...Six!...Seven!...Eight!

Review

I have on different occasions preferred one blog or another with a specific purpose usually to try to get it into independence. They are all doing pretty well now and I will play them all more or less the same. Took me six months to get the bottom ones out of the single digit average per day hits. Now I am trying to get them into the 20s.

From the Internet: "Try again. Everyone has triad and failed past efforts, that does
not mean that you won’t succeed this time. Start with a positive approach,
including thinking about what has disrupted your good intentions in
the past. Don’t discourage yourself with a negative outlook."

I will ask for information contributors from wherever and they can specify the blog they prefer. From there I can try to get Guest Authors. The results will establish themselves as to which blog is the best and I can then phase it over to independence. My best blogs will go, the junk blogs will remain mine.

"Ma Belle Amie" by The Tee Set

It will probably not be until the end of this year. Perhaps as early as October. I know what I have to do, and I will do what I can. I will know which ones are better using my Hit Counters. I can dedicate my time where it is most appreciated. The total average hits for all seven blogs is still too low but I got rid of lot robot scam spam hits. The information contributors and the guest authors will determine the outcome.

"Tiny Bubbles" by Don Ho

Meanwhile there is a lot of local action going on but they would rather not let us know. It is their decision and perhaps they will eventually see the light.
