Politics 99

Michael Cohen gets three years in prison for partially cooperating with authorities. Sounds like there are more convictions coming from the most crooked administration that has ever been in the White House, since the beginning of time. Hear that Donald J. Trump!! That's number 16! Ivanka will be 17! Jared 18. Donnie Jr. 19 and you will be at last number 20!

Cohen's comments are telling:
"I have been living in a personal and mental incarceration ever since the day that I accepted the offer to work for a real estate mogul whose business acumen I deeply admired," Cohen said. “Today is one of the most meaningful days of my life,” Cohen continued. ”The irony is that today I get my freedom back.” And he is going to jail for three years.

Mueller has been our only hope, and Trump is spending millions to try to stop him. The Senate has been bought and the Supreme Court is not so supreme any more. Democracy has been cancelled. Voting will be illegal. The GOP and the NRA will make the new rules.

In the beginning twenty years ago, my ideal was to get over 10 hits per day. Most Web sites were averaging about 7 or 8 hits per day. When I went past it to eleven hits, I was elated, then much later when I got my next blog it took a little while longer but it went into the teen hits per day. At present, any new blog must get over 20 hits per day or I will think about it. As far as I am concerned the only way is "up." The reader/dancers will make the ultimate decisions. Just gotta work it.

Honolulu is pretty covered by Web and Blog sites. Many think "instead of," whereas some are learning "in addition to." You can have a newsletter and have newspaper advertising if you wish to have an addition to. Or you can have usual newspaper advertising and have magazine advertising in addition to. I will try to get as many as I can close to Mililani if I have to go there personally to blog'em. The Handi Van has been super, just cost two dollars per trip. Kapolei, the Waianae Coast and the North Shore will come around I hope. It is still Oahu.

“Many social dancers were afraid of the dance once, too. But they learned to listen
to the music, embrace the dance and the mistakes they would make."

Early view, 2019 Good.

The coming year is looking good for all the dancers in Hawaii. For the students of Sociology among the reader/dancers of this blog we will continue with an occasional pitch. While the Creative Researchers And Producers were a clique of the definite middle class in disorder in town, there has been another rival clique developing too, Da Rootzi Tootzis. And money wise, with a little more clout. Now that the Creative Researchers And Producers are losing much of their clout due to the blogs, we have to start working on the Rootzi Tootzis specially since they have their eyes on the West too.

“Social dancers believe that good dancers awaken the joy in their hearts and
have successfully ignited the love of dancing in their souls.”

We have so many good people in social dancing and I can see the hits when I include the collages of the dance functions. Definitely up. Since I am limited in picture taking. we have been fortunate to have a few dancers willing to take three or four photos to share with our fellow dancers. Recommended, two people in the photo are better than one. Three are better that two and you can all see the difference in the amount of photos we post. But 19 is not better than 18 and the ultimate decision will be made by the photographer.

Fortunately I can still get around by Handi Van and there are many very good people that I wish to see. Living in Mililani I can get to the North Shore easily. And to Waipahu and Kapolei fairly easy. I will try to avoid commitments in the Rail Tragedy areas. Down Town can do but it is a long ride. If I am invited I will try anywhere. Otherwise I do not wish to interfere. And everyone is welcome to email something of interest to our fellow dancers including photos. The dancing scene belongs to the dancers.

Social Dancing

It has become evident that the disciplines on Oahu have been too strict in their definitions of dance. Specially from the normal evolving groups over the last 40 years. this had contributed much to the slow down in the increase in dancing interest for the last couple decades. And have been responsible for the increase in so many new dance clubs in the last two decades. In these situations, researchers are often interested in questions related to social choice, untruths, conformity, and group polarization.

"Social Dancers believe that if you love life enough that you want to enhance its
beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more dance to it.”

Many do not remember the term "Ala Wai Dancer" about a year after the Palladium Opened. You were not dancing according to the rules, ya dumb bunny. Shortly after that, another term emerged, "Junk Dancer" and for sure, you were not dancing according to the rules. And the social dancers began to realized what the elite thought about "Social Dancing." However as friendly people are likely to be, we all tried to get along and that is the way it should be.

"Look of Love" by ABC  (1982)

Fortunately, I realized that I could not dance according to their rules. I am a failure and I just didn't have it.  Now the rules are not all downtown and the Palladium will not dictate dancing on the outskirts of Oahu or the neighbor islands. On Oahu, Kapolei is one corner, Turtle Bay is across the Island. Makaha is one corner and Makapuu Point is across the Island. We shall be friends and we shall dance with each other not according to somebody's rules but how we want to dance it and enjoy moving to the music.

"For some, life is battle, for others it’s a dance For the rich it is a party,
for the poor it is chance."

Rolling along, peaceful and calm.

A blog is what all "websites would like to be" updated on a regular basis, containing content that is of interest to a select or target audience and easy to update and change. Our target had been the Night Clubs and if the target audience has not been there, we must do something else. Too bad, this blog had such a potential in covering night clubs, but not enough feedback. The hits fluctuate and perhaps next year, new and different reader/dancers.

"Social dancers believe that dancing is the grand equation. One side is music,
the other is movement. The dancer's quest is to make them equal.”

Outside of that we have little kokua. Probably a good Guest Author would be bigger step up and help find more dance information for this blog. But things change and we will move with them. A key factor for us has been in the counters. If the hits cannot get into double digit average per day hit, it is no go. Night Clubs, send us some dancing news. "Dancing Nights" blog may be phased out or not - either way, the reader/dancers will have communicated.

"Our blogs are what you say when there is nobody standing over your shoulder telling you what to do." First we need the photos, and that can lead the contributors of the photos to feel that they are ready to be a Guest Blogger and then there is no stopping us. They can each have their own blog inside this blog and I can coach them. And there is new Night Club in Waianae? Good - Happy Dancing.

Halemano Plantation Masquerade Ball

Got there early enough before six, on the Handi-Van and the place was already jumping. And people were still coming in. Six thirty, the set up crews were working a good buffet with Crab legs, the delicacy of the night. Don't kid yourself, the rest of the meal was delicious too.

“Some social dancers feel that when they dance, they may be the
greatest dancer who has ever lived."

Social dance in Hawaii is a category of partner dances that have a social function and context. Social dances are generally intended for participation rather than performance and can be led and followed with relative ease. Many of the movements are based on the American style of dance. They are often danced merely to socialize and for entertainment, though they may have ceremonial and competitive functions. These photos were at this beautiful shindig.

I have "fumbleitis" so that I can no longer take photos but fortunately I have been lucky and found many that are willing to take a few photos to share with our fellow dancers here on this blog. The photogs should make their own decisions but two people are better than one, and three people are better than two. You can guess why. However, 19 is not better that 18. Fortunately I got enough photos for yesterday's Social Dance Oahu blog and enough for this one too.

The Wahiawa Ballroom Dance Club’s Christmas Masquerade Ball was a huge success and I would like to thank all the people who came to it, that made this all possible.  The night was sprinkled with magic! People fulfilled all of the goals for the evening. To dance like nobody’s watching, to hang loose, and to keep the momentum going! The room was full of fun and laughter and colorful, beautiful costumes.  Hung magnificently from the photo stands, was a giant masquerade ball mask. Just another beautiful thing to capture our beautiful moments.

Wow, this party was a smashing success. People in Afghanistan nor South Africa are going to know about it. But they sure are becoming aware of it on the Island of Oahu. Think it over, there may be a difference you did not think about. Not much in the neighbor islands. Anyway, this is our kuleana.

and make the day worth remembering.”

WBDC Masquerade Ball

Terrific opportunity for me to get ready to attend the Christmas dance of Wahiawa Ballroom Dance Club at  Halemano Plantation. And at noon I started getting ready for the excursion. Got to get my clothing in order and paper and pencils for any quotations I may get from the attendees. The camera was ready and hoping some people  will take some pictures for the blog. The Handi-Van was a little late but I got to the dance before six. And they had a nice crowd already going.

"It's the annual Wahiawa Dance Club party, 2018. Dancing is a gift
just like the reason for the season," ~ Pauline.

"My wife and I are grateful for what we are and have great friends."
Rod and Rosalie

Said my hellos to all the nice people there. And looking around you cannot find a better group. Diverse ethnics, ages, backgrounds and outlook, but all friends and still lovers of the kind of dancing that we do. Maile as per usual the hostess with mostest and leading the ceremonies. The terrific music by Leland Yagi was floating and we all know it as the best. The usual social dancing that is danced on this island but of course here we have a little bit more.

"Aiea Ballroom Dance Association members are enjoying ourselves at the Wahiawa Ballroom Dance Christmas Party. Lots of happy people and sharing joy together,"
~ Stephanie and Monday Verzon

Some of the group dances were not from routine disciplines. But if I had never seen them before, I knew that everyone was enjoying the occasion including the participants and the viewers. The line dancers are in vogue which seem to me just fine. Wahiawa seems to be leading in West Oahu. Only one well known defect, not enough men and everyone can tell that the men line dancing are enjoying it. Stands to reason.

"Enjoyable dance with Aiea and Wahiawa Dance Clubs. The buffet had an
excellent selection of buffet items. And a precision performance by
Wahiawa Ballroom Dance Club." ~ Herb

"The First Noel"

Batteries, I forgot to bring extras, but fortunately I was able to get a couple from Leland and our good friends continued to take pictures. I got enough for this blog and for Dancing in the Dark tomorrow. Being a Crab dinner, the crab was good, however need we say, the rest of feed was delicious too. My teeth are not working so good and Maile always manages to get some for me to take home. Lucky me, I was hungry when I got home. What more can we say about a fine bunch of people?

"May this evening be enjoyed by all." ~ Augustina

This blog contains almost all about the structure of every social dance and about how understanding this structure can benefit our dance and especially our fun-factor. We will include blogging and feedback as an aspect of dance in our dances and we will find that more people will see happy and relaxed faces on our dancers when they dance. We can also thank our many good fellow dancers that were willing to take these photos that we can share with our fellow reader/dancers in this blog. I have enough left over to go into Dancing in the Dark blog tomorrow.
