Caberet Dancing

Cabaret is currently undergoing a renaissance of sorts in the United States, particularly in East and South, as new generations of performers reinterpret the old forms in both music and theatre. It has rarely appeared in the Honolulu scene.

"Heckling is cliques, get up and write your piece somewhere. Don't sit in the dark hiding, it is too easy to shout and
waste other peoples time that way."

Adagio dance, combines the strength and agility of gymnastics with the aesthetic and fluidity of classical dance. Also known in the Ballroom world as 'Cabaret', with the most famous exponents in this discipline being some of the best dancers in the world.

Adagio, is mainly concerned with lifting - progressing from small waist high flips and spins up to full one arm balances, throws and heart stopping catches. The dancers may still take regular ballet classes for flexibility, dexterity and quality of movement and supplement this with gym and circus training for strength and acrobatics. They become masters of their trade.

The male partner obviously has to possess great strength and technique in order to effortlessly propel his partner up into the air, (Well, that's how it should appear.) Equally the female counterpart, should be strong, flexible, elegant and fearless, thus enabling her to be lifted with ease and poise without indication of the inner stresses and strains.

The lifts, spins and tricks are then interspersed with dance moves and styles of their audience, to give the work its own particular flavour, depending on the context of the show or event that they are involved in. The entire show is to please the dancer spectators and they usually do. The old Adagio is fusing very nicely with the Acrobatic and the Caberet. And the Chinese are leading this type of exhibition dance throughout the world.
