Wicks And Wacks

Richie Fun getting his licks in now and then but of course we need others. Calvin, Debra and Jackson doing a terrific job. Just two more Invited Writers and they are on their way to independence. Meanwhile I am working on getting Blogging Hawaii going with Two Centers or Invited Writers. Just may beat Town Dancer which for now is almost impossible.

"He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter
separates close friends" (Proverbs 17:9)

It is becoming more definite that Town Dancers blog is evolving for the Rootzi-Tootzis, which may not always be used in a derogatory sense. Many of these are people that dance in the "disciplines" and there is a reason why they are referred to as "disciplines." They should be respected. If this blog is going to be independent then they have the right to choose their own objectives and I think they will.

"You learn something every day if you pay attention."

Can't you humans just be friends?
A far different species is the Recreational dancer, the Social, Cultural, Street, whatevah. And there are studios that still teach dancing for fun, really. They do not try to convince you to go for contests, like Blackpool. The people that do the "real" dancing on Oahu, do so for a diametrically opposite reason, just to move to the music of their choice.

And they accept that both groups have a "raison d'etre." I do not have any figures yet but I believe in the last few years we are getting more of the Recreational dancers in the West and there is where it going to be if we can find the places to dance. (in the streets?) In spite of the mess and negative upheaval that is being caused by the Rail Catastrophe.

The thing is that for too long we have been "democratically" inclined to include everyone, with the result of looking down at whoever is not in "our" category. And the key word with the Rootzi-Tootzis is "Correct." When they say it to include all dancing that's it and it requires the rest of us to have a little understanding of these people. We can still try to dance for our pleasure and our way.

Most of our other blogs are slowly becoming the blogs for the "ordinary" dancer. The ones that do not aspire to be seen. And there's a helluvah lot more of us than them. We will have competitions but mostly for fun and very local. Since the Dance Emporium has been cancelled to pay for the Rail Crisis, it is sure to be in Kapolei with the new clubs coming into existence and the hits are going through the roof.
