The Newbies

I was just informed that a lot of people in the Night Clubs are newcomers to the scene. And naturally, many are not sure of what can be danced. Most of us are not experts but we have our opinions which should count for something.  I found an answer on the Internet.

"Ignorance is not bliss -- it's oblivion."

"I don't know if you tube videos would help. You really just need to experience it and try not to worry about what your doing. If you just relax and have fun with it, it will look natural and less awkward. if you still don't know what to do look at the people around you and try out what they are doing. Just remember to be confident. If you can't dance it doesn't matter ... FAKE IT.) It will come with time and lots of partying. Good Luck and I hope you figure it out."

That answer is pretty accurate, that's how "street dancers" are born. But there are very very basic moves that can be enjoyed with the good music. Without moving your feet, just swaying the upper torso is dancing. From there, the next most basic step is the walking step which is simply, left, right, left and so on in time to the music. And this is all solo which you will see in a lot of the younger crowds of dancers.

Now partner dancing has additional requirements. The leader may think he is a great dancer but actually all he has to do is lead and do the basic. The follow will do "da reel teeng." And fortunately most of the ladies are very good followers. They are not all the same which is to be expected but in doing their own thing is where the style of the dance develops. If there are 700 hundred documented steps in Salsa you sure as hell don't want to learn all of them. Who you gonna dance them with?

In a Night Club, the most fun is using the KISS method. Keep It Simple, Stupid.
