In an effort to determine their own destiny, obtain self-governance, and independence from the city and state's oversight, and after many years of intensive community-based planning. there will be a new business and social center in Nanakuli.

Tthe Nanakuli Hawaiian Homestead Community Association (NHHCA) with the help of Hawaiian Community Development Board (HCDB) is developing this major “village center” project that will include a multipurpose learning center and a 48-unit affordable rental housing complex,The plans also include a Waianae Comp satellite health clinic with an affordable drug pharmacy, a large renal clinic and a commercial center with Longs as the anchor tenant.

A beautiful Business Park and you would have hundreds of cars missing from the streets and freeways to and from Honolulu. Hundreds missing from the downtown traffic. And "I coulda been home in 20 minutes."

The independence of the Waianae Coast is of utmost importance specially now with the Rail Disaster almost at hand. It will take many years for the residents of the coast to recover from that catastrophe. And everyone agrees that the traffic will get worse. It's the bread, Fred. It's the dollars, scholars. The Fat Cats in Honolulu are making millions right now.
