Night Clubbing Anyone?

In general, places to avoid are those aimed squarely at the fast moving and fast music loving of the under 30-year-olds. Alternatively, Latin, tropical, global beats and reggae events generally have a broader age mix, partly because they reflect cultures where it’s normal to welcome cross-generational party people. Of course, Salsa is a quite unique group with Bachata closing in fast.

"If you can't get rid of the skeleton in your closet, you'd best teach it to dance."

Vintage dress-up and reunion nights are obvious options too – the former with its focus on refined dancing and the latter often popping up to celebrate 20 years since its glory days of partying, marketed via various nostalgic groups.

But they are not all the West will offer. There is a growing group of over forty dancers that enjoy the night club atmosphere where they are not trampled on by a bunch of kids. They may not fit into that scene anymore, and on Oahu there no longer the stigma attached to being an over-forties clubber. It is coming to Kapolei.

It is definitely on that scale in the West with Dot's In Wahiawa leading the way. They have a restaurant and  a night club. The nearest thing to the Granada in Alhambra, California - just needs the Dance Studio. Just Tacos in Mililani is mainly a restaurant and too small but easy to get packed on Saturday Salsa. And they just started Salsa at Cholo's on the North Shore. Can Kapolei be far behind?
