You Wanna Dance?

Getting started with dancing

You can dance in a group, with a partner, or on your own. There are lots of different places where you can enjoy dancing, at dance studios, school cafeterias, social club venues, district parks and community centers and in your own home. Dancing has become such a popular way to be active and extend your social activities. It will keep you physically fit and most fitness clubs now offer dance classes in their group exercise programs. It also plays a key role in memory and learning, as well as keeping one's balance. You can't lose and you can have a lot of fun.

"Social dancers believe that the more dancers at a social, the
more chance there is that everyone gets to dance!"

Dancing can be done both competitively and socially. Exhibition dancers are admired universally. It can be a great recreational and sporting choice, because anyone of any age can take part. It doesn’t matter whether it is cold or raining, as dancing is usually done indoors. And social dancers do not have many requirements like many other styles of dance and most know what to wear. And everyone knows what is appropriate at a special dance function like the Christmas dance coming up.

"Jingle Bells"

The gear you need for dancing will depend on the style of dancing you choose. Tap dancing will involve buying tap shoes, whereas ballet will need ballet slippers and ballet clothing. Fortunately, for social dancing it doesn't take much. And no one has to say "No Slippahs." To get started, some dancers simply choose a style they would like to try. They have friends and they will get advice. The results are that Social Dancers are coming into their own.

"Social Dancers try to do good and make it the life they want to live."
