Japan Night Clubs

Dancing after a certain time at night is banned,in Japan unless you have a special permit. The permit, which is separate from the numerous other permits that night clubs have to apply for, requires the club to have at least 700 ft2 of space for dancers to get down. Not too bad, we need some room to dance in.
"To be able under all circumstances, to practice five things constitutes
perfect virtue; these five things are gravity, generosity of soul,
sincerity, earnestness and kindness." ~ Confucius

Think about what dancing was like during the 40s compared to what it’s like now. People danced more formally, and to swing and big band music. In the 70 years since the dance law, dance and dance music have changed dramatically.  Nowadays you don’t need enough room for a big band or a giant dance hall; a small dance floor and a DJ with a laptop is good enough for most people.

The old law has been in effect for over 70 years, but hasn’t really been enforced by police until the last few years.  In cities like Osaka, Fukuoka, and even Tokyo, police have raided clubs to stop dancing, close down the club for the night or, in some cases, arrest the owner and shut down the club for good. We have been fortunate on Oahu, the government has been very nice and the clubs have tried to give the customers what they want.

They have very nicely divided the dancers into the young and the more experience. The olders are really interested in dancing and willing to start at seven or eight in the evening. However, the young and the restless do not start until after eleven PM and going for the wee hours of the morning. To each his own.

Holding On Nicely

Town Dancer seems to be still there. I will wait until I move to Pearl City and see what develops. Maybe I can get an additional Guest Author. That would definitely do it. This blog has always been a natural, it was just stuck with SOS and the different opinions are what make a good dance blog.

Losing the Super Ferry was a fiasco that will live for a century. Now the Rail is a fiasco that will live forever. In a city of 4 million, it makes good sense but on Oahu? Dumb Dodos. Of course the millions and millions of dollars in profits that are being made by "our" friends the contractors is a big plus. And the Rail has created over ten millionaires already, and  there are more coming into view. All "our" friends get rich and the public pays. As P.T. Barnum use to say, "There's a sucker born every minute." Of course, he was wrong, on Oahu, it is every second.

Meanwhile there seems to be more interest in dancing around the Island of Oahu, specially Kapolei and the North Shore. Unfortunately they want to "keep the country, country." And we all know what that means, no streets, no sidewalks, less money for schools and definitely no shoe stores. No places to work nearby. And the tourists will see all this and say, "How Quaint."

Evolution

The Extrava Danza of live music is evolving very nicely throughout the Islands. Music, not just for good listening but to enjoy moving to your favorites. The emergence of the "oldies but goodies" has had a very good influence on the entire enchilada. And we are fortunate to have so many good musicians out here in the middle of the Pacific.

"You will never be happy if you continue to search for
what happiness consists of.  You will never live if
you are  just looking for the meaning of life."

As Commenters and Information Contributors to dance blogs, many of us have seen how powerful these reports, by others, have been in dancing events  on these Islands. And fortunately it is already beginning on Oahu very nicely
for the benefit of our dancers.

Today, dancers no longer have to wait until designated times to get their dance news and information. Not only that, they don’t even have to visit specific news sites to find out what’s going on. Dance news today is easily accessible wherever dancers are, and our blogs on Oahu are there for them.

How do you consume news? Do you utilize traditional media forms, or do you rely on new media outlets? There is a change coming and we must increasingly rely on the under 60. They can more readily accept the new trends and that's where our hits are coming from.

Doing Very Well

Considering that I have cut back on all my blogging, this one is doing just fine. Fortunately we have Richie Fun as a Guest Author and with one more this blog would really roll. And hopefully we can get more Information Contributors the way Richie does.

"Many of us fail at times, but we get back up. We can make mistakes, but we can fix them. Strong people can  fail, but they can try again."

The established night dancing on Oahu is doing very well, and they are well covered with Public Relations. Newsletters, web sites, radio, newspaper and TV advertising.  So we have to ask the newer ones, how about getting your communications to the dancing public with little cost? We don't charge anyone so what is it going to cost you? It is your decision, not ours.

Meanwhile dancers are beginning to recognize the different classes of dance. Rumba, International Style is deluxe, top of the line, Competitions and Exhibitions.  American Style is most used in the Social Clubs throughout the Islands. Then there is a third kind that is strictly to enjoy moving to music and that in Night Club Dancing and it is learned from wherever.

"Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" by Jimmy Borges

Overlapping/ Of course, it exists most everywhere except that there can be no overlapping "into" the International Style. That has been engraved on stone. However some of it overlaps into the American Social and the Night Dancing. So that both of them are constantly being modified slightly. And everyone learns to move to the music the way they feel and not to anyone's prescribed movements.

Because he had nobody to go with."

Wow!

The stats on this blog have been dropping drastically. Of course, I have cut back on all the blogs pending my move to Pearl City. I will be closer to the VA and Tripler hospital. From Nanakuli it requires a full day and not bad when I only went once per month and I could walk. Now from Pearl City it will be a half day only, I must go more often and I am on a walker.

"None have made a greater mistake than those who did nothing because they could do only a little."

I should do something better with these blogs when I am in my new residence. Close by the Pearl City Shopping Center and close to banks and even a couple of bars. Sidewalks and I can get some exercise using my walker. The Community Center is within walking distance and perhaps I can recruit somebody from Pearl City for the blogs.

Apparently the Dance Pavilion in Waipio has been cancelled. They need the money for the Rail Disaster. Millions and millions of dollars in profits. There are already over ten new millionaires in the  Present Rail Party. And wrecking the economy is of no consequence to them. They just don't care, they don't have to care. They are the Fat Cats of Honolulu.

The Micros have been somewhat surprising. I am getting some feedback  and I realize that much of the hits are coming from my links in the Micros. I do mainly Word Press using Dancing On Oahu as the title for the blog. From there it is automatically shares posts with Tumblr and Twitter. Facebook is out. No need. And all my Blogs in Blogger are shared with Twitter, Pinterest and Google Plus. That keeps them all in double digit average per day hits.

I have had a pressing need to make Town Dancer an independent blog that is beholden to no one. And of course one in which I no longer have any participation. Those are my rules but independently, they will make their own rules. I can see them back to 67 average hits per day very soon. They could be communicating to the entire Island chain and.setting an example for the rest of us.

Yes the Politician Dance is still there. You take three steps forward and two steps back. Then you do a side step and another side step, then you turn around and face in another direction.

Live Music

Live Music on my computer: I got it all now that I discovered the Song Videos on the Internet. Not everything or clear enough but good enough for me. I no longer save the music, now it is complete. The song of course is most important but I have the singer and the band to see at the same time. Put a few together and click "play all" and I have a my own home made show.

"All of us have had the experience of a sudden joy that came when
nothing in the world had forewarned us of its coming a joy
so thrilling that if it was born of misery we remembered
even the misery with tenderness."

The speakers on my computer are cheap tinny things and will give you cheap tinny sound. So I tried it first with regular earphones, and not bad. But now I have some very good speakers and there is not stereo in this building that can beat that sound. Moreover, it is digital, like an other digital item on your computer, and can transfer, copy or delete anything.

"Ceguera De Amor" por El Trio Los Panchos

I have given away my CD players, all my CDs. Then I gave away my DVD player and all my DVDs. Now I have 6 GBs of music on my computer. Have only one back up on a USB drive. And I am thinking of an additional back up in my laptop. Easy as pie.

"Begin The Beguine" by Artie Shaw

I will be moving to Pearl City on December 1st and it is a miracle. Sidewalks and I can walk around with my walker and get some exercise and see the sights at the Pearl City Shopping Center. I can have a beer now and then too. And best of all, now that my health is deteriorating the VA and Tripler Hospital are much closer, it will require only a half day instead of a full day as now from Nanakuli.

Along with her birthday present he thought he would do a little ribbing.
"Wow, I have never made love to anyone over 60."
She replied, "Oh, I have and it not that great."

If there is any dancing nearby, I can blog'em. My distress is disappearing.

Another Big Change

I have adjusted the blogs again. This time they are going to once per week. The hits will tell me where we are at, now that I plan to leave. I think I should make Richie Fun an administrator same as Calvin Ota, for back up and then phase myself out of it and let them run it the way they wish.

"Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything, it may be glandular. But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness."

The blogs will now be a once per week basis. The hits will come down but they will tell me what to do next. I have several months to wind this down, but I wish to do it as good as I can. I have had so many good readers on this Island, it is very gratifying.

"Twist and Shout" By the Beatles

For sure we need more Guest Authors and information contributors for all our blogs. That is information which no one else has, except you and that is what the reader/dancers want to read about in our blogs. And all our readers will know that it is not SOS. It is a win win situation for everyone.

"Maui Waltz by Loyal Garner

From Whine & Noises:
Today is the Tomorrow you worried about Yesterday — I am much too young to be as old as I am — If you can’t convince them, confuse them — This is probably as bad as it can get, but don't count on it. — Sorry, I'm just having a senior moment — Hope is the pillar that holds up the world.

Waipio at one time was designated as the central spot for dancing in West Oahu. They even had programmed a "Dance Pavilion" in the Patsy Mink Recreation Center. Of course, the costs were too much and the City & County gotta give the money to the Present Rail Party.
