Street Dancer.

Old very respected term that has gradually lost it's luster with the popularity of the dance studios and the professional dance teachers who of course, could teach you the "correct" way to dance. Many in this century consider "street dancer" a derogatory term if applied to them.

"Try to learn something about everything and
everything about something."

For beginners we advise that to dance, the music is first - then you dance. In many places the norm is the movements in the dance first, then the music. Actually most do pretty good anyway, humans are dancers. But everyone is advised to acquire any knowledge available to them in the dancing fields. And in our blogs it should be possible to find what would be of interest to our fellow dancers who would like to learn.

If you have the love for the music, the information should make it even possible for a determined couple to teach themselves to dance without a teacher in the old fashion Street Style.  It would also be possible for a group of interested people, without a teacher, to successfully form their own dance club, and teach themselves.

Some groups already use DVD lessons just get ideas for new material and they practice with each other. This can be real social dancing and can evolve into Public Social dancing instead of the Private kind we have cultivated for so long. Da Reel Teeng!

The information that is available would teach the alphabet of dancing; practice is needed to become proficient dancers. Do not worry if you seem to have no rhythm or coordination in the beginning; these will come with practice.

Do not worry about stepping on each other's feet; if you use the proper hold, this will not happen. Sometimes you will find it possible to dance several kinds of ballroom dancing to a single piece of music.

But the leader, can interpret the music in his own way. Most ladies become very good and can follow just about anything. Are they better dancers than men? Of course.
