Wot's Doin'?

Things are running smoothly but going up too slow. Of course, it seems as though about ten blogs is enough for Oahu. I did not know and neither did anyone else at the time and I ran it up to eleven dance blogs. Over diluted the readership and I began to delete blogs. And then of course, our main competitors are the Big Micros, Twitter, Facebook and the rest. Which are just fine if you are looking US and World recognition. We are just Oahu.

"Rumba is the most delightful way to move to Rumba music. which is about the best music the world will ever witness." ~Mikhail Baryshnikov (he knows a little about dancing.)

La Rumba, an old stand by and used every day by the Social Dancers on Oahu. The DJs are very aware of the proper music for the dancers. Most Rumba danced on Oahu is based on the American style of dance. Of course, there are few added local moves, a  few from the Philippines and a few from the International. These are Social Dancers. Over three hundred years ago, sailors traveling by boat up and down the Caribbean, named the dance "Rumba" when there were so many different styles of similar music and dance on each island. But this is what we got now and we are lucky.

"Besame Mucho" por Rene Touzet

In discussing the dance from one to another, they would use, "por ese rumbo" - in that direction, - li dat, - da kine. Several decades passed and danza is a feminine word - La Danza. The word Rumbo is masculine, but somewhere along the line, the name of the dance became La Rumba, feminine. Of course this was only a distinction for the Spanish. but they covered more islands.and did more than anyone else to unify the Caribbean music and dance. We can suppose that the Pirates did too.

"Social dancers believe that the opposite of a correct statement is a false statement.
But the opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth."
