New Social Dance Club?

I just hear snippets of information and I have given feedback when I have had the opportunity. The good news is that it will be formed to promote the American Style of Dance. Just like it has in the past where some clubs were formed to promote the International Style of Dance and they certainly were within their rights.

"Truth and Honesty is the oldest and most powerful of all of the human values."

The extra good news is the teaching in the new club, classes only in the extended Bronze Division of approximately 30 very basic steps and patterns. Divided into beginners and intermediates, this recognition of the extent of the cultural dancer's repertoire in relation to the relative fun in our social dances has been a long time coming.

Cross body lead is taught in many dances. But how many people learn the reverse cross body lead? Most men learn to lead the left turns fairly well, But how many learn to do the right turns? How about the walk straight ahead and then back too?

The ladies, bless their souls, learn to follow these movements in about ten seconds. Ok, I exaggerate, 20 seconds. So it not a matter of having a stand by teacher. And in this club, they will keep a far distance from anything that resembles LAGS. (latest and greatest syndrome) That will be left for the other social dance clubs, the dance studios and the Night Club Dance advisors which already cover that part very nicely.

The new club agrees on the basic dances, Line dance, Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha, Cha, Cha. Also the peripherals, Swing, Tango and Samba. Anything else will come in by Popular Demand. Then beside finding the regular places to dance, there is the Night Club option when they find the proper and receptive club. Once a month, a club with an extra 20 customers will be a swinging club and none of the members would be prohibited from attending whenever they please. Everyone will benefit which is the name of our game.

My only other advice is to have the club in the East or the West, not in town. The differences may not be so readily accepted in the already established dance cultures. When you figure there are about 600 documented steps in each of our dances, you can see there is plenty of room for the others to dance in.

The new club members will have a swinging time with their limited moves, and they will make the new club as they please. I offer to give them plenty of good public relations in our blogs.
