Interruption: was the disruption brought about by the advent of the Internet blogs that caught even the dance big shots predicting it off guard. Many had these views engraved on stone. Social media upended the system of command and control that organizations could count on when media relations and advertising held a duopoly. That is the way it had always been.

Many dance wheels on this island still think they hold the keys to the kingdom but they don’t especially if they’re playing the communications game business as usual. How many still think they are so avant garde because they have a Web site?

Now controlled delivery systems of content consumption are ineffective and new style social networks have brought an age of transparency and accountability. And in our blogs we must spread the facility of communication to our fellow dancers. The cliques are already on their way out.

Countless individuals and organizations have been left standing behind the eight ball, especially evident when a new dance organization erupts. And it will happen again.
