In his study of American politics, historian Alexis de Tocqueville praised the openness of our democratic system, but warned that "There will come a time when the rich and powerful try to kick the door closed." We are all aware of the disaster now happening in Washington D.C. The Rich and Powerful are taking over for the sole purpose of getting more money and getting more powerful. If we can still vote, we can get rid of all those lying republican crooks out of our congress. Then we can go after the number one Shit Pot.
The dance scene of Oahu is developing very nicely. There is less stink about, that type of dancing or this type of dancing. We are getting along just fine, each dancer has a right to their preferences as we would like to have the right to ours. Country dancing is beautiful and they have fun, the name of the game. Exhibition and Competition dancers get together, dance beautifully and have fun. Nothing wrong with that. However, we as social dancers get together and should have the right to have fun too. Fortunately, there are now more social dancers than all the others combined, about 60% of the dancers on Oahu.
A couple years ago someone mentioned the "two-center." I am getting old so I brushed it off and promptly forgot about it. Then a couple months later someone from the Windward side mentioned the "two-center" and this time it stayed with me a little while longer. Now I just heard it again recently and it sounds better now. What is a "two-center?" Simply put, it is a person who is willing to stick their two cents in and contribute dance news to a blog such as ours. Very valuable.
