Social Dancing

This is looking better all the time. We are getting more dancers in the Social Dance world and more dancers are beginning to understand the dance scene on Oahu. And we should respect those that are not Social Dancers as we are. We have accepted that the disciplines can no longer tell us what is "correct." They considered themselves dancers and they are right. The stricter ones profess to dance it "correctly," according to their style, in the beginning, last century, It was reasserted quite frequently, however by the time of the Palladium, they danced it "correctly" and omitted that it was according to their style. The implication was that by default, anyone not dancing their way was dancing "incorrectly."

This contributed to the obsolescence of the style as many of their dances are becoming obsolete and being supplanted by fad dances. And this is heavily supported by the under thirty dancers as a rule. Sorry, in Night Clubs, no Waltz, Polka,Tango or Paso Doble. it is accepted and no one complains. We all know that many dancers of the American Tango or the International Tango can look you straight in the face and tell you that the Argentines do not know anything about dancing Tango. Yeah man.

They can look you straight in the face and tell you the Brazilians don't know about dancing Samba. However they can tell you how to do it "correctly." You believe in the tooth fairy too. I for one, do not accept their authority on what is "correct." We dance to very few variations because we enjoy moving to the music. There are just too many beautiful variations out there where people are really dancing not just some prescribed movements that may have been "incorrect" from the very beginning.
