New what?

In the West we have not had the luxury of Dance Studios and Dance Clubs to every one's liking. The dance population is more widely dispersed. There are a few already discovering what is in common use on the Mainland. The use of DVD lessons with the help of a few knowledgeable dancers in small groups, taking "beginning" dance lessons.

Young people have a right to their space.
From there they will develop into two groups. The few that wish to drop out (not their cup of tea) and those wishing to continue with perhaps more professional teachers. Our amateur teachers are specially good in "Social Dancing," after all, most of them are excellent social dancers.

Now, this is styling.
Just about anyone with a DVD player who can walk is a candidate for these type of lessons. Men are very good users. They are somewhat shy when learning to lead a step which they are not that well acquainted with.

They are self conscious about the huge responsibility, if they don't look good, their lady can't dance her best even if she knows how. A lady can only dance as well as her partner leads.

If you don't know any or many steps and styles yet, this is your chance to learn the movements in the privacy of your own home or with a small friendly group. On your own, you can learn at your own pace and at your own convenience. Just make sure you listen to a full song first of the type of dance you will be learning. The music is prime, the dance is secondary and will come naturally.

The time element is so important with all of us. At home or close by, you can take your lessons just about anytime. You can be in control and not be tied down with class schedules. With the practice of dancing and having fun you will develop into a very good dancer in no time. The "street dancer" is an old fashion name for a very good dancer that did not learn from a dance studio.

"Are you afraid to dance?"

Walter Darian, one of the best wrote a best seller, "Diary of a Street Dancer." Many of his friends have testified that some of the best exhibitions dances ever seen, were on the Social and the Exhibition floor by Walter.
