The Best Night Action.

They have asked me but I must tell them that since moving to Nanakuli, I have retired from the Night Club scene. Now physically I cannot move that easily and I am forced to use a walker for security. Even so, I am constantly surveying my social-media friends for their input in order to create more well rounded information.

"Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence."

I do have some experience of covering the Honolulu nightlife scene in the past 30 years so whatever information is sent to me, I can flower it up if necessary but I am limited. I know that listening and enjoying the beat is all well and good and all. But I also know that sometimes the music burrows deep into your veins and there's only one way to unleash that energy and that is to get on the dance floor, shake your bombon and boogie.

It is becoming more apparent that there are divisions in the Night Club action. There are the young, as per usual, and they will do their own thing which is just fine if they are having fun. Much of it involves little partner type dancing. Then there are the Hawaiian music and dancing to it crowd which is all very well and good. Hey we want to see happy people.

We have the old standby social dancer, accustomed to the oldies and goodies, generally a more mature crowd. Then we have another under 40, which is the Salsa crowd and which has been introducing other types of artificially created Latin styles. Reggaeton seems to have come and gone. Bachata coming in strong and there are others waiting in the wings.

Fortunately Oahu has a few good dance meccas, where our fellow dancers can go to forget the stress of life and get sweaty on the dance floor. Most of those little tid bits of information of our dance world would be most appreciated by our reader/dancers. So get with it, send it in, whatevah. The photo is the most important. Make everybody happy. Mahalo.
