"We must be brave enough to live life creatively.
The creative place is where no one else has ever been in."
The entire enchilada has been a work in progress for some time. American Latin is not the same as International Latin. Nor is either one of them the same as Night Club Latin. So somebody has to state their opinion and we have ours which most likely will differ from yours. It has been mostly centered on the American Style of dance by the social dancers and the night club dancers and those two are fusing very nicely.
For the most basic we have the Rumba which began the whole smash about one hundred years back. It definitely was not a fad dance. Then came the Tango and the Samba and accepted very nicely, but much too professionalized. Meanwhile in Latin America they had developed several different Waltzes and the rest of the world ignored them. After WWII, the Cha Cha Cha came in followed by the Mambo and that along with Merengue became the standard Latin dances world wide.
It should provide a good basis for the coming Latin Scene. The fusion and standardization of lead and follow, will make some terrific dancing. On Oahu specially because they have discover the magic of the oldies but goodies in Latin more than others. One out of a hundred is a classic. But there are ten thousand classic Latin songs out there just waiting to be danced to.
