Social Dancing

The stats for this month are pretty bad, and I am disappointed. I realize that I have overly diluted the readership with so many blogs. I will keep playing it by ear but pay attention to the average hits per day. I have converted one of the low hit blogs into a Weekly, semi blog - web site. Dance And Live will not be deleted. I will try this new format and see what happens. Meanwhile the Night Club action in West Oahu is awakening.

"Social dancers have changed their lives in many ways – made them more focused
and learned better discipline and they have more positive energy."

In Hawaii, before the war, there was some social "street" dancing in all islands. During the war it increased with military influence and social dance spread with a few of the "Studio" moves. After the war, social dancing simmered down but a few die hards of Chinese and Japanese descent decided to start up a social dance club in Aiea, It was very successful and people would be coming up all the way from Honolulu. The first spin off HBDA was set up in town and everyone knows what happened then. Many clubs were started in town and many stayed but many came and went."

The first one Aiea Ballroom Dance Association is still there. Wahiawa Ballroom Dance Club came in a few years later and it still going fine. Mahalo to Stephanie Verzon for the ticket to the Aiea Ballroom Dance Association, 63rd. Anniversary Celebration at the Palladium. I invite Stephanie, Amadeo, Deanie and Bert to edit the poster if they wish. I got the information from the ticket. I can make the changes easily. Making posters is my hobby and I find it gratifying in my old age.

which is why we call it the present.”
