The readers of this blog are gaining the knowledge and realize that dancing for competition has to be done "correctly" because it is going to be judged, perfectly understandable. They are also clearly learning that all dancers cannot be painted with the same brush, we are all different, specially on Oahu.
"Exhilaration is that feeling you get just after a great idea hits you,
and just before you realize that it ain’t worth a shit."
and just before you realize that it ain’t worth a shit."
Competition dances are different types of dances from "Da Reel Teeng." The difference is that those dances must be "seen." The music is secondary, and most of the dance steps and patterns are learned so that they can move very easily, to practice, without any music. The main thing is the "dance movements" which are to be seen. Very easy from there to the "exhibition" types and most of the ones we see on Oahu do very well indeed.
"Well, Get it" by Tommy Dorsey
Social dancing seems to concern itself with the music first. The movement to the music then follows, and consequently the result is social dancing. It should be very obvious and easy to understand. The music first, then the movement to the music. And no one can tell you how to move to the music. No One! Now we are talking about Da Reel Teeng. Then there are the kids with their solo trick moves and gymnastics. Why not? Not my deal, but there should be freedom of dance like there is freedom of speech.

One can see people every day in Night Clubs or wherever, dancing salsa with real feeling for simple dance movements that are felt with enjoyment. Swing dancing with real dance movements and enjoyment. Many dances may be still a little too prescribed specially in town, Line dancing is still developing into the most real singles social dance. Must get more men in it just for fun
