"It must happen to many people, hearing a song from an old number and feeling the adrenaline coming in and wanting to move to that music."
Zumba has been hyped up quite a bit and because it is new it appeals to the young. Line dancing has been pretty much overlooked. But it is one of the best methods for learning all the partner dances. Any of you that have done line dancing for six months just for fun are way ahead of the game. You have picked up on the rhythm, timing, steps and the natural styling that goes with each distinctive dance much easier. The dance Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Swing and Tango are what you will be dancing in both types.

The Line Dancers, and there are many, already have most of the basics that some people do not acquire in 4 or even 6 years of regular dancing. The only drawback is that there are not enough men to make a solid dance enjoyable for both sexes.
The learning process also applies to men that have already learned how to lead a lady in the dance. Fortunately, most ladies are very good at following, they are just super. Social dancers can be somewhat different. Most learn to move in the most comfortable of fashions and there are others that may go for the fancy stuff, why not?

Waianae has a few sparks here and there but not much as dancing goes. They have plenty parties but little dancing. With us it is not the dance. It is the music and then we want to move to that music in the most pleasant of methods and they can differ greatly. To each his own.
