The Blogs on this island are progressing slowly but surely. I expect this blog "Town Dancer" to stay in the lead for a while..I have been promoting Dancing in the Dark and Dancing Nights because they have been at the bottom of the pile and they are coming up slowly. I am beginning to get help here in the Central Valley. I am using Twitter and Facebook to promote them and they are doing very well. I may not get any hits from Nigeria or Norway but I am not worried, as long as I get hits from Oahu.
Social Dancing is becoming very prominent in West Oahu, but in town it still has much competition from the International community. Don't knock it, those people should dance whatever makes them happy and they are willing to accept the regulations. However as social dancers we should also have the same rights of dancing whatever we damn well please. The favorites in our kuliana, at the moment are, Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Tango, Salsa, Bachata and Night Club 2 step. And these choices have not been engraved on stone.
It was been firmly established from last years blogs, that the entire dance structure on this Island has been misunderstood by most of us. Each in their own little niche thinks that what they dance is true dancing. The sad part is when they see any one from what they consider a different group moving to music, then "they" decide that the other party does not know what dancing is all about. He, He, He. Dumb Dodos I certainly am not an expert so I can't say. But more questions are emerging, they always do, and we will get opinions and that feedback is what will make these blogs.
"Social Dancers believe that dancing creates a space for them to move to music
in a way only they can, whether it’s awkward or graceful."

A collaborative space and it may be ours.".
