The Night Club action is slow coming in but then many have beautiful Web sites already on tap. This blog keeps rolling along and we seem to be getting some reader/dancers and we need more to promote our dancing. For now we need the Information and Photo Contributors, Just people that are willing to share info and photos with our dancing friends - hard to find. So all we can do is try to promote dancing as part of the enjoyment of our lives on Oahu.. We want to enjoy music and the movement to that music the way we want to, not as we have been so carefully instructed by outside interests.
In the last century there used to be many ballrooms throughout the US.. But the term “ballroom dancing” took on a meaning of “competitive dance-sport studio dancing”. On Oahu, most social dancing happened in church halls, gyms, parks, malls, school cafeterias or bars. Standing a girl on her head may make sense to some fancy dancers but it is not social dancing. The basic moves that have been there for ages throughout the world are the one to use in social partner dancing. Easy to lead and easy to follow.
