The time has come - the World Health Organization (WHO) says its official - ITS A PANDEMIC. Here is a helpful update, with both a personal level and a national level TO Do list of recommended actions to prevent and control the spread of this disease, starting immediately.

I am planning to stay home for my own protection and safety, and only go out for essential purposes and where its considered safe - public gatherings are NOT SAFE. I can still help out on a very limited bases.

The Corona Virus - in my opinion, we should anticipate a community outbreak and act now to planned ahead and cancel future gatherings - the recent news on the second confirmed case in Hawaii is my bases for this - patient #2 probably contaminated many passengers on Hawaiian Air #21, on the way from Seattle to HNL on 3/4, and they all got off the plane and went home without any actions to tests and prevent additional infections and spreading. The next two weeks could reveal if new infections happened. The health department knows this and is chasing down and trying to track all these new loose ends, and try to contain the spread - too little, too late, and don't think thats going to happen. In the meantime, we should assume the disease is now spreading more widely and act quickly to protect ourselves. Once the news breaks, it will be too late, and authorities will be forced to take stronger and stronger measures. Italy announced they are shutting down their WHOLE COUNTRY!!!

Honolulu has canceled their St Patricks Day block party celebrations.

If we choose not to cancel, and the city doesn't outlaw public gatherings, I highly recommend everyone wear a face mask - and think of many imaginative ways to make that part of the fun, and a new theme about the Corona Virus, etc. Face masks are most effective in preventing an infected person from spreading the disease, but are not adequate to protect you from infected persons whom are contaminating the air room - all of the more highly protective measures involve far more cost and effort, without guarantees of success... this virus goes everywhere, even the smallest openings.

These actions are the fastest, safest, cheapest way to prevent the disease from spreading and causing more serious illnesses and suffering to our members, along with many other major social and economic consequences - the most dire is that all hospitals and ERs could be overwhelmed in a short time causing severe reductions in the quality of care for ALL health emergencies, leading to increasing deaths - there will be no room for any new patients - a bad time to be getting sick or injured! Hawaii COVID19 patient #2, put several Kaiser healthcare workers on 2 weeks of self quarrantine, putting an immediate strain on their staffing - multiply that by 100s of new patients and see what happens.

I have been taking videos notes at our dance classes, and have been sharing with other members. In case Felipe/Carol/Rod/Rosalie does get sick, we could make a videe will be no room for any new patients - a bad time to be getting sick or injured! Hawaii COVID19 patios of the rest of their lessons now, and save them to be available when needed. Here's a sample

Protecting ourselves, our club, and the valuable talents of our members allows us to be free and safe to explore the future for new alternatives and choices and to be able recover and rapdily resume our lives, when most of the dangers have passed and the health system is restored to normal, and a new vaccine becomes available next year.

Fighting the disease on its terms is a complicated, time consuming, losing and painful battle with the most suffering and highest costs... we can choose prevention now to fight it more on our own terms.
