Help

I started my first blog right after I saw Frank's nice looking blog, over 20 years ago, I have been dancing all my life and I know enough, to know that I don't really know much. I never took lessons until I got to Hawaii. What a nice world. With time, like other social dancers I began to feel that I could share whatever with my fellow dancers. Like other dance blogs, I evolved into sharing any information on local happenings, dance history, choreography, dance artists and even life lessons from quality sources available all over. But unfortunately, I found out I could not handle everything I had seen and not many have helped or have been interested in getting involved. I reduced it from eleven blogs now to the present five.

"Social dancers believe that none of us are finished products. We live and learn every day."

As a result, "Oahu Dancer" was born and has been a “work in progress.” My  goal is to increase the amount and caliber of the content and to reach out to dance students, teachers and parents. You have something to say to this group of reader/dancers. I want a place where anyone can connect and share their experiences, that provide inspiration, motivation and sparks new ideas. I can consider myself a participant rather than an authority. This blog is for dancers, dance teachers and others interested in our social dance group. The entire thing started out as an experiment. Everyone can start slowly learning about the “behind the scenes” of a blog – creating pages, formatting posts, adding photographs, etc. With just a few people, I can resign and you people can take over. Easy.

"Sweet Someone" by Don Ho

I have not been too surprised to see that people were reading my posts. Not only has the traffic been steady, it has been increasing slowly each month. In no time my “training ground post” became a “real” post with followers, a Twitter account, and a Facebook page. Over time I found a few people that would contribute to the blog and the list of contributors has grown. People on the Island of Oahu and anyone in the dance world. When I started this blog, I had no way of knowing how it would transform my life. The first blog went from being a small side project to many blogs and becoming my main focus. I can feel good to serve the dance community providing information about auditions, dance venues, dance wellness, and more.

"Knowledge is learning something new every day.
Wisdom is letting go of something every day."
