the pain you find in your yesterdays."
Shines: floor shines, open partner or solo dancing. A floor shine is a combination of steps you do when you and your partner let go while dancing. Sometimes the guy and girl do a little battle of steps when he’ll do one shine and she does another or both can even do the same step (shine) at the same time on their own timing (the man’s or the ladies.)

The purpose of floor shines is to do some dancing on your own instead of doing all partner-work — its your chance to show off all the fancy steps you learned in class, (that beautiful styling the ladies learn.) The amount of floor shine during the song depends on how much partner work the guy wants to do. He’s leading so he basically has control over letting go of the girl to do the floor play.
There is a nice Internet set up for Kokohead Dancing and perhaps some day we would be included. But of course, we have little to contribute at the moment. The Two Centers can make a big difference Dancing in Hawaii, by sharing information and photos with their friends, neighbors, relatives and fellow dancers in the East.
Pub's Side Note: I asked this guy, who has been around a long time (a member of the Creative Researchers And Producers) about the loss of dancers on Oahu in the last 20 years. I told him that I wasn't sure if it was ignorance or apathy.
He replied, "I don't know and I don't care."
Hey, how much clearer can you get than that?
