Night Clubbing for the young

By Ted Rogers, Kalealoa

For young people night clubbing is a skill to learn. You go to build sexual tension with other people. If you don't know how to do this very well, in a noisy place, then we can understand your frustration. Girls go out to clubs to be hit on, so they are in the mood for it. There is music and people are dancing. There's alcohol. Your friends are there. If you like to talk, are passionate and articulate, people with confident opinions will like to converse with you. Keep the arguments down, arguing is a skill, some people are good at it and it is better to avoid it.

"Most social dancers are aware, that dance manuals and other writings have
lauded the health benefits of dancing, usually as physical exercise."

Clubbing is a skill too. Clubbing requires that you build sexual tension with your eyes, and body language. When you are young you rely on your words. You have to talk to a girl to make her interested in you, usually. As you grow older, you can do it with your eyes, you will have had practice. There a raw emotional honesty you need to access. Clubbing is finding a feeling and expressing it simply. You cannot beat around the bush. You have to express how you feel. If you do this, people will find you interesting because you are a walking story. People's lives are on display in a club.

We learn about each other there. You are probably stoic, like a brick building. Instead, you need to react to people, and be a part of the process. Do that, and you'll find interacting with people is quite pleasurable, like when arguing, or doing what you like to do, even though each interaction is so short. We tend to trivialize the communication process that happens in club-like places. But we must accept that there is a lot of complexity there, and that you need to learn. People who like clubs are good at something that you may not be good at, yet. You just need to get better. Then you'll understand why so many people like clubs. Keep in mind: most people do not club, I think... regularly. They go to the social dances on Oahu.

"Social dancers really believe that no person is a failure who is enjoying life."
