The more experienced dancer.

The more experienced are probably over forty but look ten years younger. And they are not nite clubbing Friday, Saturday and Sunday listening to beautiful up to date DJ music. Now it may be two and maybe three times per month. They tend to prefer live music and much of the music is the "Oldies But Goodies." There are so many really beautiful classics from a century back. Not like downloading a song in a few minutes on a computer. The band takes hours of practice to get an addition to their repertoire, for their benefit and their appreciative dance audience too.

"Social dancers believe that the largest room in the world, is the room for improvement."

There is much less drinking, with more snacking, and more conversation, especially during the intermission. And with two couples or more it becomes a dance party. Social dancing provides pleasure and enjoyment, with relaxation and an improved social life, to people of all ages and backgrounds. It is an ideal path to health through gentle exercise in these days of tension, stress and sedentary work.

Those who forsake the television screen to go dancing reap great mental and physical rewards. Don’t blame your partner for a gaff. No finger-pointing or blaming for a misstep. This is dance, not the Olympics. It’s social, not anti-social. Be kind, laugh it off and move on with the dance. It’s all part of the learning experience. Then too, most people on Oahu know what to wear for an evening of dance anywhere. No one is overdressed and I personally have never seen anyone in "slippahs."
