The Windward and the Leeward Coasts

The leeward side of a Hawaiian island is the side protected by the elevation of the island from the prevailing wind, and is typically the drier side of an island. In West Oahu that side is progressing very nicely in spite of being held back by the Fat Cats in Honolulu. They were the ones that invented, "Keep The Country, Country." But slowly we have been getting more business parks and we may be able to live, work and play in our own kuleana, avoiding the Rail Catastrophe and the twelve hour work days. In the our case the windward side is the East and the leeward side is West Oahu.

"Social dancers try to be polite and thank their dance partners after the dance."

The Fat Cats want you to deal with Honolulu for everything. The Rail Disaster? The Fat Cats are making millions and millions of dollars daily. No one knows to this day, what happened to the first Billion dollars. First estimate when Caldwell came in, Five Billion dollars. Then after the election (yes they spent a million lying about Cayetano) the estimates went up to 8, 10 and now over 12 Billion dollars. At Honolulu Hale, it is referred to as the "Gravy Train." And the more common folk call it "Easy Money."

Anyway for some reason or another, social dancing has not evolved in acceptance like Oahu. Plenty of excellent Hawaiian exhibition dancing. I believe Arthur Murray has a studio there now but there is not much dance action on that Coast. Turtle Bay to Makapuu Point is a terrific section of dancers already living there. Most are Honolulu oriented and of course that should be their choice. But for sure with the social dance outlook developing on Oahu, that section will be jumping soon.

close they were to success when they gave up."
