Our dance teachers on Oahu are sometimes susceptible to LAGS. (Latest And Greatest Syndrome.) There may be a thousand better steps for the man to learn and lead, but some teachers, in collusion with the student conspire to teach the "Extreme Professional" moves because they "look" flashy. But really they are not meant for the social dance floor. Let's get back to good basic dancing just for the pure joy of dance and no menace to your fellow dancers. Have fun and enjoy.
As a business decision nothing scares beginners or nondancers away faster than show dancers. And done in the bigger dance floors. A guy who can't compete with the good dancers goes to a club where he can fit in. That is what killed the Lindy hop scene and the Disco scene. Finally pros: In LA, some pros will actually do aerials in a crowded club. Auwe. We don't have to worry about that in our social clubs on Oahu.
I got my Facebook working pretty good and and three group accounts too. - Dance Blogs, Dancers and Democratic Party. Then I also have Twitter, but I have to work at both of them to keep them on this Island. I am not interested in being read in Nigeria. And Facebook gets 50 millions posts DAILY. I recently added Tumblr and that seem to be working well with just those three. And again, I can hardly recognize that they are my blogs, everyone else is in there. I will still have a lot of pruning to do and get more feedback for my regular dance blogs.
