Just Rolling Along

By Francis Nguyen, Wahiawa

So people are making plans for a place to Social Dance in West Oahu and we should understand. The most acceptable style for almost a century is still based on the American Style of dance because it is so flexible. There are many simple variations, easily led and followed and our dance floors can be much smaller. The other fancier kine can dance much more comfortable where they have large dance floors. Even though the day of the Big Bands and the Big Ballrooms is over.

"Social dancing is an effective method of stress reduction. It works
by reducing the hormone associated with stress."

The Palladium is "theirs," no hu hu, but we should have the right to find our own places. We can, of course also join the group of "viewers" that are interested in entertainment but that is a different aspect altogether. That's "show business." And if we can help the entertainers and the viewers, why not? Much of the criticism of dance blogs is about their exclusiveness which is not true. In our dance blogs we have disparity of information available, issues with trustworthiness and reliability of information are presented.  We welcome feedback and we will post along with your name.

We have concentration, making contact with all four corners of the island. Makaha to Makapuu Point and from Turtle Bay to Kapolei. With five blogs we have ownership of media content, and the meaning of interactions (feedback) created by social media. Most of this is still in front of us when we get more help. Most Newsletters and Web sites do not lend themselves to the transfer of information from one to another. However, it is also argued that social media has positive effects such as allowing the democratization of the internet while also allowing individuals to advertise themselves and form friendships.

"Joy is not found in being better than someone else. It is found
in being better than your former self."
