Tough Going

So many on Oahu that were doing a little dancing and then had thought about taking up ballroom dance lessons. It seemed so great, after all! Yes, the thought of actually following through with dance lessons seemed unlikely, because they were too wary to take the plunge. Sound like you? Most studios feature a collaborative environment designed to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Everyone knows how hard it can be to learn a new skill. Don’t forget that everyone you see in the studio, even your instructor, was a beginner once. But you were learning and you were dancing. Now comes the Trump Plague.

"Social dancers may wish you enough pain so that even
the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger."

Most places are on hold to the end of the month hoping the "curve flattens." New decision will be made then. Trump was six weeks late and we will have 20000 deaths in the US by Easter. Still going up in all states including Hawaii. It is good to see so many dancers trying to help each other. I think many people will adapt if we just give them that option, We’re all going to get through this together. It’s easy just to get worried and stressed but we got to be grateful that there are options to be able to carry forward. Anybody that wishes to share some thoughts with our fellow dancers, just email it in and I will post it. Mahalo.

I Shall Return
In the Americas, thousands of years before the arrival of the first illegals from Europe, the original inhabitants were dancing. Hundreds of different dance patterns, but of course in Alaska and Argentina much less because of the extremes in temperature. In the Mexico, they developed civilizations with professional musicians and professional dancers. Early on they could differentiate from the even step, just step, step, step, to a different move to the music, a rock step and a chasse, Many of those basic moves are recognized the world over in whatever dances they have. The Mexican civilization produced a rich body of music and dance that spread throughout Latin America.

"Social dancers believe that success in life, in anything, depends upon
the number of persons that one can make themselves agreeable to."
