The Plot Thickens

We each think we are so unique in our own little dance world of our own making. We assume that everyone else is out of it. Perhaps we should endeavor to try to be more understanding of our fellow dancers a  little better.

"Candor is a double-edged sword; it may heal or it may separate."

Dance generally refers to human movement either used as a form of expression or presented in social, spiritual or performance setting. Dancing has also been used to describe methods of non-verbal communication between humans or animals. (bee dance, mating dances,) motion in inanimate objects (leaves dancing in the wind.)

People who dance are referred to as dancers and the act of dance is commonly known as dancing. An event where any type of dance takes place may be called a dance. And the art of making and designing a dance is called Choreography. We pretty well accept most of these terms.

"I Gotta Know" - Elvis Presley

Definitions of what is called dance are dependent on social, aesthetic and moral constraints. They range from functional movement (such as folk dance) to codified, virtuoso techniques such as ballet and International type Ballroom dancing. Sports, gymnastics, figure skating, synchronized swimming and even some martial arts contain dance disciplines.

If we have 20000 dancers on these Islands (2%) over half must be social, cultural dancers and based mostly on the American Style of dance. 11000? That leaves 9000, and over half of those are night club dancers with a preference for live music. 5000? That leaves, 4000 for the rest, International style dancers, Line dancers, Round dancers, Salsa dancers, Square dancers, Swing dancers, Tango dancers and any others that wish to be included in Recreational dancing.  There can be the usual intermixing among groups. Now we are getting some place and we are beginning to know our way around even if some people disagree with us. Fine!

Two muffins are in the oven. One says to the other "Wow it's hot in here"
The other one replies "Oh no ... It's a talking muffin"

Met a good friend who happens to also be good International dancer. Has a very good outlook on the entire dance environment. He informs me that he thinks he knows the two dance groups that consistently produce the best International dancers on this Island. By coincidence he belongs to one of them. And he was much more sure of the worst two groups. He says they are the original "junk" dancers, We were talking about competition dancing, so I am certainly not in a position to judge.
