Our Dance World

Pub'sNote: To our reader/dancers, please consider yourselves, now and henceforth,
and no matter what anyone ever asks of you, free to do any damned thing you
want as long as it doesn't hurt someone else unnecessarily.

"Blogs are whatever we make them. Defining a 'blog'
may be a fool's errand."

Ballroom dancing began in Europe as partner dancing where the man was the dancer, so he led and the woman learned to follow his lead. This has evolved into many different types of dances, Waltz, Foxtrot etc. Each one has progressed to be danced in a semi traditional manner but different according to the discipline involved, American or International. Of course, many moves may differ further as a social dance. There is also a particular and distinctly appropriate music for each style. Nice.

They are further divided into two very definite groups. Those that are considered derived from the European and those that are considered derived from the inhabitants of Latin America. This is most noticeable in the Competitions when there is a time interval dividing the two groups, with big costume and attitude changes. And the new peripheral fad dances are all coming from Latin America.

We have a long row to hoe, but we can take our time and have fun along the way hoping to get a little feedback to share with our reader/dancers. I am on a walker and cannot get around much any more, and I don't have much time left. I am hoping for some dancers willing to share some of their dance Pearls with our fellow dancers and maybe even think about becoming a Guest Blogger. So it may take a couple more months to get our first regular. Most of the Blogger Structure has been set up. We just need the people that are going to take over. After that it should be easier for everyone.

"Social dancers believe that some people may not like what they do, some people may not like how they do it, but these people are not living their lives. They are!"
