Oktoberfest

Nice day, Saturday and having received the invitation, I was looking forward to attending the Wahaiawa Ballroom Dance Club social. I began to make my necessaries for the occasion. And I almost had everything when the Handi Van showed up. Unfortunately, I had forgotten my dentures. We were still on the property and the Handi Van driver was very nice. We went back and I got my dentures and we got to Wahiawa District Park a little early and some people were waiting to get in. Finally got in sometime after six and the set up began.

The set up went nicely, these people sure know what to do and they do it. In no time at all, people were dancing to the terrific music of DJ Leland.  And the feast fit for Royalty was looking good. I was glad Craig was there, and he took most of photos, and I thank the others for taking some photos of our fellow dancers. I have butterfingers, so I must be careful in handling my camera. Any help we can get will be appreciated by all.

There followed the great music and dancing - socializing, picture taking and everyone having fun, which is the name of the game. Then after an hour or so, a respectful pause for Leo to say grace. A simple prayer thanking the lord for "giving us our daily bread." This was followed by the line forming along the wall to get the food. And with eating comes more socializing adding to a very nice past time, then gradually dancing resumes.

They were having fun with regular dances and an extra polka now and then. The line dances are nice and appreciated by all including the spectators. And we had a couple of beautiful impromptu exhibition dances. This is one terrific fun crowd.

For me, my depression phases come in now and then, and the entire atmosphere may not be recommended by my VA doctors who are really very good. But at this social dance, no one is doing anything for me, they are just having fun and I benefit greatly just by watching them having a ball. What depression?

Ballroom dancing is such a great spice of life. It's great for one's wellness both physical
and mental. It is great for meeting people, awesome people, that is. ~ Leo

I went to the door at nine and watch the beautiful action on the dance floor. I  waited for the Handi Van and it was just few minutes late. I never complain, just as long as they get me home. I was home before ten and I had me my best meal of the month with enough left over for the next day. So how was your day? I slept like a rock.
