We Kick It Around.

In many countries dance teachers tell their students, "Walk your kilometers. Do not be distracted by fancy steps until you are prepared." On Oahu, LAGS (Latest And Greatest Syndrome) has been very prevalent, Specially for those that are clearly in Silver and Gold Divisions. The music may become less important and the beautiful moves are the "Dance." The participation in any Exhibition will interest most in learning the latest beautiful dance moves. And let us face it most of them look beautiful, when well executed.

“Strange as it may seem, social dancers can still hope for the best
and it may be right around the corner."

On Oahu you learn basic including your street dancing and it has been a little like your freshman year of high school. You have learned a variety of subjects with a variety of teachers. You have created bonds with classmates that can last a lifetime. Your freshman year in dance is your rite of passage, a non-stop growth spurt, and while you may not be the greatest, you have been building a foundation for future success. Bronze level (Basic) is that level that every advanced dancer looks back on with a deep appreciation. It's the level where you learned to dance. Have fun while you are going through the basics. Enjoy the trip on the social dance floor when we get back to it, - it will be well worth it.

"Somewhere Over The Rainbow" by Bruddah Iz

Social dancers are sure, there will come a day.

And on Oahu, we have been fortunate in having some of the best dance teachers in the Pacific. Teachers with empathy that want to see their students thrive. Having a teacher who’s able to walk – or dance, in your shoes and understands where you’re coming from can do wonders for your confidence and dancing abilities. A terrific dance teacher sees past the stumbling and awkwardness of a beginner, and is willing to put time and energy into shaping that student, to help them become the best that they can be. The best teachers always see the end result: a wonderful dancer. Our best dancers credit their success to their exceptional teachers who have been friends and have had a love for the dance.

“Social dancers believe that in a political world filled with hate,
we can still dare to hope."
