I don't know.

The Night Club scene is slowly changing on the islands. Bars are good places to get stoned. But social dancers have developed in the last century a reputation of not being drinkers (drunks), they have expected a different evening in a night club. The Clubs are learning not to do it according to "their" preset rules, but to accommodate what attracts the dancers, all the dancers. The bar tab will no longer be the main stay for income. For a long time now, in places where it was prudent not to raise the price of alcoholic drinks, they have added a cover charge. Some are even contemplating the "Juice" Bar that has been doing very well on the Mainland.

"Social dancers think if you keep your moves simple enough, the
dancers may see us as a desired dance-object in the dancing
scene and that, guys, is how you get popular?"

That cover charge will go up but the price of drinks must come down. Eight dollars for a beer is for the elite, not for the common dancer. Then of course is the introduction of the Juice Bar. People that dance get thirsty and juice is much more palatable than water. They will buy, if it is offered, but you must offer first. Fans of live music have another big point in their favor. There is a welcomed pause in live music and everyone takes the opportunity to take that drink and exchange a few social words. And on Oahu it seems to have been slowly discovered that the old well loved tunes can be danced, gratefully over and over again in sheer joy.

This is lost on most DJs that produce music specially for the young. The trick for the young is to have LAGS (latest and greatest syndrome.) They have no idea that in composing and arranging of all music the pause may be just as important as the notes. But of course it has been repeated often enough that we must differentiate the young from the not so young. The young like non stop music, the more mature have more experience and their wants may be different. And in our cultural dancing, it just naturally refers to the under/over 40. so we have two different audiences available.

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
