The Playlist

The young. under 30, will more readily dance to the rhythms of the music. Witness the young Rave scene in night clubs, it is all beat. The rap generation, the young from all peoples, enjoy moving to the beat. And the simplest way is to jump up and down, without an accent, just keeping time with the beat. You can all see the perfect example on Television in present day Africa. And they are enjoying themselves as they have for centuries.

"We shall not believe people because they are dead, or contradict them because they are alive."

As they grow older and in more civilized areas, they phase over in their preferences to music, and there is a definite preference for some music over others. Nowadays with so much "music" in production and being hyped, ninety per cent of it is pure unadulterated junk. The remaining will go to different factions for different reasons.

A few will always be there and considered classics. But of course that is hard part with being a DJ. They hear too many classics in their business and are more open to something different because it's nice. And the loser is the dancer. The Tennessee Waltz by Patti Page, is old hat for most DJs. But there are millions of the older dancers out there that get a huge enjoyment in dancing to it. And for three minutes the entire evening of mediocre stuff may have been worth it.

"Stranger In Paradise" by the Four Aces.

And there are millions of classics out there. Enough so that an enterprising DJ could play a different one every time for a year, easily. With groups playing live music, they still have the same old problem of the time practicing but it is somewhat less in that they play for effect less often.

The most effective presentation of music for dancing on Oahu is still the Playlist that they have in Line Dancing. Their people are already drooling from the beginning of the evening, with the menu of the music they are going to dance to. This entire enchilada may take a while, but our group of dancers are over due to music for our dancing pleasure.

I regret to say that it is not going to happen in the West.  It will happen in Town, first. And it is showing some signs of it already. The performers are more inclined to please the paying customer than themselves. Those playing the oldies but goodies are way ahead of their time, but like anything else, we all learn.

Pub's Side Note: Blogs are more personal, direct and more current communication, They leave an opening for comments in each blog and they are receptive to more formal answers and opinions in the blog itself. The hits go through the ceiling. Real Social Media is much different than anything we have come across before. Everyone has the opportunity to involve themselves in spreading the word.
