Socially

Most dancers on Oahu seem to know what social dancing is all about. But somehow they differ in their views. Nothing wrong with that, we are not clones. But in this century it being better understood by the "common" social dancer. Social dancing has become a major category of dance styles, where sociability and socializing are the primary focuses of the dancing. Of course many social dances are partner dances. In fact, quite often when spoken about social dances, ballroom or other partner dances are kept in mind.

"Social dancers know that every time they dance
they become a better version of themselves."

However it is natural to include such groups of dances as circle dances, line dances, and square dances. No Triangular dances? Ballroom dance, depending on how it is defined, may refer to a wide variety of partner dances. Typically it includes Caucasian dances such as waltz or foxtrot, and Latin dances such as cha cha and rumba. Caucasian dances are normally danced to straight-beat, Western music; couples dance around the floor; and when formalized, the ladies may wear long gowns and the gentlemen, a bow-tie and tails.

Latin dances are normally danced to Latin or jive music; and couples may dance more-or-less in one area on the floor; and when formalized, the woman may wear a short-skirt Latin outfit and the man dresses in black. The regular dances taught on Oahu include those on the syllabi of the American style of dance. And many of the newer more stable ones such Salsa, Bachata, Hustle and the Night Club 2 Step.  As an additional many have the option to learn from the dance group of international standard and international Latin. However, we will also learn some nightclub, square and line dances.

"There is one studio that consistently puts out the best International dancers
on this Island." Yes, I put it in quotes. What do I know?
